Basic Info.

Senso-ji is Tokyo’s oldest temple and it is said that basking in the smoke from the incense burner in front of the Main Hall (Kannondo Hall) will heal injuries and diseases. On New Year’s Eve, temples across Japan ring their bells 108 times at midnight. At Senso-ji, this event called “Joya no Kane” has been practiced since 1951. 108 members of the local congregation take turns ringing the bell. Why not welcome 2018 in a traditional Japanese way?
