Basic Info.

The Shinagawa Shrine originates in 1187, as Minamoto no Yoritomo proclaiming it as Shinagawa Daimyojin, the God of nautical journey and protection. It is said that Ieyasu Tokugawa offered his prayers before the Battle of Sekigahara.
Shinagawa Fuji, one of the 7 fujizukas (artificial hill constructed in the likeliness of Mt. Fuji) of Tokyo, is located here. This fujizuka is the largest in Tokyo.
